The Ministry of Health continuously evaluates health system performance and health status of the people through monitoring the prevalence and incidence of diseases and risk factors. The availability of information is thus essential and would be made available through capturing data routinely from health records of the health care facilities as well as from the results of health research. Accordingly it was necessary that the Ministry of Health decide on the priority areas for health research as part of its planning for the future.
The booklet lists priorities of health research and is an indicative practical guide for all health researchers. We wish health researchers in the Ministry of Health, other public healthcare providers, the private sector and academic institutions to make use of this booklet to direct their research to contribute to the development of health services and health status of the people.
